Encan 12 La Nébuleuse

Each knife is unique and this piece of heritage is all the more exceptional as certain parts of the oak are blackened by time.
The Encan
The “Encan” owes its name to the place where it was imagined and created, the old fish market in La Rochelle.
It’s the ideal pocket companion. Practical, lightweight, ultra-efficient.
The knife handles were shaped from the hull planking of the boat, removed for restoration. The planking is the set of parts that make up the hull of a boat, fixed externally to the frames.
The locking system invented by Farol allows you to unlock with a small thumb movement a wire spring that holds the blade in the open position. The blade is mounted with a naval carpentry rivet and this is what gives all the robustness to this knife.
From the tip of the blade to the end of the handle, everything is entirely made in our workshop, with passion and high standards.
La Nébuleuse
In 1948, Mrs. Rolande Le Hégarat and Mr. Pierre Marchadour, shipowners, ordered the construction of a sailing tuna boat from the well-known shipyards of Pointe de Rocamadour, the Hir & Péron. La Nébuleuse will be a unique model in oak, with a 19-meter hull, 32 meters long in total, 6 meters wide, 370 m² of sail area.
When La Nébuleuse first hits the water, the crew consists of 8 men and… 1 dog! White tuna fishing (Albacore tuna) extends from June to October, with tides lasting 15 days in the North Atlantic. It is a demanding job where the steel leaders, which must be pulled up by hand, put the sailors' fingers to the test.
La Nébuleuse quickly established itself as the best tuna boat in Camaret, it excelled at sea and its very united crew accumulated a wealth of experience.
The boom years of La Nébuleuse ended in 1987. The crisis hit the tuna industry hard. The shipping company then put La Nébuleuse up for sale. In 1988, a fishing skipper from Loguivy de la Mer in Côtes-d'Armor was charmed by La Nébuleuse and became its new owner with the intention of continuing fishing with it. But the reduction in French fishing potential did not go in this direction, La Nébuleuse would no longer be able to go fishing. Rather than destroy it to receive a bonus, the fishing skipper took care of its routine maintenance.
Since 1999 and following major renovation work, it has been possible to sail aboard La Nébuleuse from Paimpol thanks to Voiles & Traditions.
