A demanding manufacturing process, the best steels and the most beautiful types of wood. The specifications could have stopped there, but that was without taking into account Farol's marine soul, anchored in its DNA.

The knives are crafted with attention to detail, so that they are as pleasant to use as they are to look at.

Our great cutlery and leatherwork team makes blades, handles and cases in our two workshops in La Rochelle.

In the beginning there is a tree. It branches out and naturally creates beautiful designs.

In the workshop, we choose it, we cut it and we trace the knife blanks that we cut one by one. All the handles are shaped, sanded and polished entirely by hand, each one is unique.

Blades are cut, quenched (heat treated to harden the blade), tempered (heat treated to relax the steel and achieve the desired hardness) and honed (ground to shape the cutting edge).

To finish the blades, the grain is refined until it reaches a mirror polish, Farol's signature, one of the longest and most physical operations to carry out.

Then the knife mechanisms are adjusted and assembled. They are fixed on the handles after a careful adjustment adapted to each piece, they are sharpened and the final check is carried out.

To achieve this result, the knives are made by enthusiasts who have become specialists over the years.

And since we couldn't stop there, our exceptional leatherworker makes sheaths and cases in high-quality leathers, to protect and enhance these unique knives.
